Pickup recommendations for the Hype
The stock Hot Rock (Bridge) + De La Creme (Neck) set is a killer all-rounder. If you’ve got a specific tone goal, here are popular Ormsby upgrade paths by genre.
Modern Metal / Low Tunings — tighter bass, sharper attack
Prog / Versatile — big range + great split tones
Technical Metal — presence, projection, articulation
Rock / Punk / Hard Rock — punch, bite, amp-driven grind
Classic Rock / ’80s — sweet leads, chunky rhythm
Clean / Blues — warmth, clarity, dynamics
Quick tip: If you’re choosing a Floyd model, lean toward pickups with strong mids (Hybrid+/Shrapnel/Post War) so leads stay thick and rhythm stays punchy.
The Hype GTR Run 18 brings back one of our most beloved models — now reimagined with even greater tonal flexibility and stage-ready design.
