Stock pickups: Hot Rock and PVH

The Hot Rock and PVH is a pairing that covers a lot of tonal ground. A tight, confident bridge voice for modern rhythm work, and a neck pickup with real vintage character that stays warm and expressive. They sit in very different tonal places, which makes the 3-way toggle genuinely worth using.

Hot Rock / Bridge
Humbucker / AlNiCo 8 / 13.4k

A moderate to high output humbucker designed for blues, rock, punk, and metal. Overwound mismatched coils drive the front end of your amp hard, with the AlNiCo 8 magnet keeping the lows tight and controlled. It stays defined under gain and holds its place in a dense mix without getting loose or fizzy.

Best for

Modern rock and metal rhythm, tight palm-mutes, punchy leads, and anything that needs to cut through a dense mix.

What you'll hear

Driving mids, controlled lows, and a forward, immediate feel that holds its shape as gain increases.

PVH / Neck
Humbucker / AlNiCo 2 / 8.4k

Perry's Vintage Humbucker. Plug into a cranked vintage Marshall and you'll be seeing red, white, and black stripes. Sweet singing lead tones with an overdriven rhythm tone that's chunky and warm. The inspiration when winding this one was the energy of classic 80s rock guitar work, and it shows in the way this pickup responds to pick dynamics and amp breakup.

Best for

Vintage-voiced leads, classic rock rhythm, and players who want a neck pickup with real character rather than a flat, modern voice.

What you'll hear

Singing sustain, chunky overdriven rhythm tones, and a warm midrange that pushes nicely into breakup.

Why this pairing works: the Hot Rock delivers drive and definition, the PVH stays warm and vintage-voiced, and together they give the Hypemachine H1 real character across both pickup positions.
