Ormsby Guitars at The Sydney Guitar Show

The Sydney Guitar Show was an incredible weekend. Thousands of players came through the doors, many experiencing Ormsby multiscale guitars for the first time. From unveiling a brand new CustomShop Metal V to seeing a young guitarist take home the Death of Lucifer SX, it was a weekend full of great moments.

Sydney Guitar Show Recap

The Sydney Guitar Show last weekend was fantastic. Perry & Brett took the overnight flight from Perth to set up the booth on the Friday ready for the 1000's of guitar enthusiasts to roll through the doors on the weekend.

Saturday in particular was incredibly busy, with a steady stream of players coming through the booth from the moment the doors opened. One of the things we noticed straight away was how many people were curious about our multiscale guitars. You could see the raised eyebrows as people walked past and spotted the angled frets,  not confusion, but curiosity.

Once people sat down and actually played them, the reaction was always the same. Most expected the fretboard to feel strange at first, but after five or ten minutes they were surprised by how natural and comfortable the guitars felt. We had several guitars on hand including multiscale Hypes, a Goliath and other models, and it was great seeing players take the time to explore them properly.

One of the other highlights of the weekend was the unveiling of a brand new CustomShop Metal V built for Josh Mak from the band ANA. The guitar features a striking gold sparkle finish with a black dragon, designed by Josh’s comic book artist specifically to suit the body of the guitar. Josh had never seen the finished instrument before the show, when we finally presented it to him at the Sydney Guitar Show, he was completely speechless.

Another memorable moment was seeing the Death of Lucifer SX find its new home. A young guitarist who plays deathcore in a high school band kept coming back to the booth to play it over the course of the weekend. By Sunday afternoon he still couldn’t stop thinking about the guitar and ended up taking it home. His dad and brother were fantastic and incredibly appreciative, and moments like that are exactly why we do this, putting great guitars into the hands of passionate players.

We’d also like to say a big thank you to the team at the Australian Music Association (AMA) for putting on such a great event. It was an incredibly well-run weekend with thousands of people coming through the show, and we’re already looking forward to the Melbourne Guitar Show in 2027, where we’ll be back again with another great selection of guitars.
