“I don’t hit walls — I smash through them. Whether it’s riffs, stories, or setbacks, I turn everything into forward motion.” — Josh Mak
Quickfire Questions
What first got you into heavy metal?
Hearing Zombie Inc. by In Flames. The juxtaposition of beautiful melody and crushing brutality made a huge impression on me and shaped my playing style.
What was your first guitar and do you still have it?
Yes! It’s a cheap Yamaha classical my dad bought me — I still write on it more than any other guitar.
Who were your top influences growing up?
Oasis is my favorite band of all time for their songwriting. Outside of music, I’m inspired by chefs and filmmakers.
What is your current live set up?
I use Ormsby Metal X and Metal V guitars. My effects and gain run through a Quad Cortex. Amps vary — Friedman BE100, Mesa JP sig, or JCM 900 depending on what’s available. I also use a Morley switchless wah.
What's next for you?
Releasing our debut album, 4 music videos, an Asian tour, 2 comic books (including one inspired by the band), and a documentary about our journey. I’m also working toward a production-range Ormsby signature guitar.
